You may have heard the news recently that octopuses are in fact aliens

 A new DNA study has revealed that octopuses are so weird that they may be categorized as ‘aliens’.

Researchers from the University of California conducted their study on a two-spot California octopus, discovering the probable reasons behind octopuses’ evolved central nervous systems and their fantastic ability to deceptively camouflage.

The late British zoologist Martin Wells was the first to describe the sea-inhabiting creatures as “aliens,” primarily because octopuses’ protein-coding structures are much more evolved than even humans.

But now the first full cephalopod genome sequence shows that octopuses (not to be confused with octopi) are extremely different from any other animal – with their genome showing a staggering level of complexity. The new DNA study, published in the scientific journal Nature, has identified the presence of more than 33,000 protein-coding genes in octopuses, significantly more than humans.

And that is not all. According to Irish Examiner, scientists also confirmed that the DNA of an octopus is highly rearranged– like cards shuffled and reshuffled in a pack – containing several “jumping genes” that can leap around the genome.

Humans have often found themselves astounded by octopuses’ abilities to carry out functions which would be deemed impossible for most animals – now we know why it is so easy for an octopus to open a jar of jam!

In fact, Inquisitr recently reported a case where an octopus broke out of an aquarium in Seattle, much to the horror and surprise a number of visitors present there.

But escaping out of a tank or a jar is the very least we could expect from these highly evolved beings. American oceanographer David Gallo has extensively documented the octopuses’ abilities to camouflage themselves when under threat. Basically shapeshifting creatures, octopuses can assume the texture and color of their surroundings to ward off underwater predators.

So next time if you see an octopus conducting a strange and unbelievable feat, relax. Just know that octopuses are way ahead of us, and in that regard, they are our only home-grown “aliens.”

Scientists (yep, actual scientists) made this tongue-in-cheek revelation after studying their DNA and deciding that it was so complex it almost couldn’t have originated from Earth.

Alas, some spoil-sport has done away with the theory using something called ‘logic’.

An alien craft flew over Los Angeles County in 1942, and the picture below proves it. Something very odd happened in the early mourning hours of February 25, 1942. An aircraft flew over LA County that sparked an air raid alert. Searchlights and Guns were locked onto the aircraft for about a an hour. That alert was unlike any other. We,ve all seen the images of the military action in Iraq. Pictures of batteries of antiaircraft guns firing in what look like random patterns are familiar to most of us. The picture below appeared in the LA Times in a story about the Battle of LA It clearly shows a night time defensive response to an air raid, but the situation is very different than that in Iraq. The men firing the guns weren't desperately searching the sky trying to find a target. They clearly had a focus for their efforts. This picture is the most convincing piece of evidence I,ve seen of an alien craft.           With a little effort using Adobe Photoshop I was able to clear up the image into something that clearly shows a classic saucer shaped craft right in the center of where all those searchlights are aimed. The picture clearly shows a saucer shaped craft in the area I've highlighted. The area outside of my highlight appears to be clouds of smoke from several large explosions that is being illuminated by the lights.   Look closely at the explosions. They don't look like they are actually coming in contact with the craft. Witnesses told LA Times reporters that the bombs exploded in rings around the craft. Could it be that the craft had SHIELDS that are very similar to the shields used by the imaginary craft of Star Trek? I added the red highlight to clarify what I was looking at. Coincidentally, it seems to mark the place where those shields seem to be having an effect.   The Battle of LA makes a very convincing argument for the presence of alien craft in our skies. The fact that something not of this Earth flew slowly over LA County is very clear. There were hundreds of thousands of witnesses to the craft as it traveled apparently without being in any hurry while our military tried very hard to knock it out of the sky. Once the craft had slowly traveled out of range of our guns the battle was over. Since Pearl Harbor had happened only a few months before it was easy to believe that the Japanese had made the flight. Now that theory simply doesn't make any sense. If the Japanese had aircraft that were immune to our antiaircraft guns then the war would have taken a very different path. Even 60 years later no country on Earth have aircraft that can continue to fly without any apparent damage after being hit with even opne antiaircraft shell. The aircraft that flew over LA County that night had to have been an alien craft.   The aircraft wasn't hostile. If the pilots of the craft had wanted to hurt someone they certainly had the chance. I can't say whether that craft was armed, but if humans had designed a craft that could take such punishment they would have designed it to be able to carry weapons. There wasn't any mention about the craft doing anything hostile in any of the news stories I,ve read. It didn't drop any bombs and it didn't fire back at the gun emplacements.   WHY would anyone human or alien make such a flight?   I see this flight as a kind of a show of force without using force. The craft flew very slowly along without taking any evasive action as our military threw everything it could at it. If this was an INTELLIGENTLY controlled vehicle then there is NO WAY that the pilots didn't notice the barrage of shells that were being directed at their craft. It's obvious that they weren't concerned that their craft would be harmed. The craft withstood the best we could do to it without showing any damage. It clearly says that the technology used to manufacture this craft is far superior to ours.   What happened suggests intent. They ignored the provocation of our attempt to destroy them. It might have been done to make a statement. I think the pilots of that craft were trying to say that we couldn't hurt them and that we shouldn't be afraid of them.   I don't believe the craft was designed with antiaircraft gunfire in mind. I think that it was built so strong because of another concern. Let's say that they have a way to propel a craft very fast in open space. There's a lot of room in space, but it isn't exactly empty. Space is filled with objects large and small. There are Billions of asteroids in our solar system. Most of them are orbiting the sun just like the planets. If this fast moving craft hit a piece of rock or metal the size of a dime it might destroy it. The energies involved would be tremendous. I think that this type of impact is what the craft was designed to withstand.   The Battle of LA happened long before the idea that an Unidentified Flying Object might be an alien craft was widespread. The Government simply said that the craft they were shooting at was unidentified. They let the public ASSUME that the craft had been Japanese. I wonder how many people even questioned the idea that the craft MUST have been Japanese.   I wonder what would have happened if they had brought that ship down? The Government has had enough trouble covering up what happened at Roswell. I don't think they would have been able to cover up a crashed alien craft the size of an apartment building in the middle of the city of LA   I wonder what would happen if our Government started shooting at an UNIDENTIFIED craft over a city today? What if it happened exactly the same way? The craft flies slowly over a city without firing a shot while we throw everything we have at it. Can you imagine seeing LIVE news coverage of the event being broadcast around the world? I wonder how many people would immediately conclude that the unidentified craft was an aircraft manufactured by beings NOT OF THIS EARTH? Can you imagine how fast the lid of secrecy would TRY TO come down on the story?   Alien craft are flying in our skies.   There is no doubt in my mind that one flew over LA County on a clear and cold night 60 years ago.   THE TRUTH IS RIGHT HERE

Massive 5,000-year-old underground city uncovered in Cappadocia, Turkey

The region of Cappadocia in central Turkey is home to one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world – deep valleys and soaring rock formations dotted with homes, chapels, tombs, temples and entire subterranean cities harmoniously carved into the natural landforms. Cities, empires and religions have risen and fallen around these unique underground havens, and yet it seems they still hold a few more secrets. Archaeologists in Turkey have uncovered another massive underground city in Cappadocia, consisting of at least 7 kilometers (3.5 miles) of tunnels, hidden churches, and escape galleries dating back around 5,000 years.

Calling it the “biggest archeological finding of 2014”, Hurriyet Daily News announced that the ancient city was found beneath Nevşehir fortress and the surrounding area, during an urban transformation project carried out by Turkey’s Housing Development Administration (TOKİ). 

“Some 1,500 buildings were destructed located in and around the Nevşehir fortress, and the underground city was discovered when the earthmoving to construct new buildings had started,” writes Hurriyet Daily News.

Nevşehir province is already famous for its incredible subterranean city at Derinkuyu (pictured in featured image), which was once home to as many as 20,000 residents living together underground. It is eleven levels deep and has 600 entrances and many miles of tunnels connecting it to other underground cities.  It incorporates areas for sleeping, stables for livestock, wells, water tanks, pits for cooking, ventilation shafts, communal rooms, bathrooms, and tombs.

It is hard to imagine anything surpassing the Derinkuyu underground city in both size and scope, but archaeologists are saying they have reason to believe the newly discovered subterranean city will be the largest out of all the other underground cities in Nevşehir and may even be the largest underground city in the world.

Details regarding the dating of the site and how this was carried out, have not yet been released by those involved. However, researchers have reported retrieving more than forty artifacts from the tunnels so far, so archaeologists may have reached the estimated date of 5,000 years based on those. Numerous other known underground sites in Cappadocia have also been dated to this era.

Despite pouring 90 million Turkish Liras into the urban transformation project so far, the TOKİ has said it will move now move their project to the outskirts of the city so that the newly found city, which is now officially registered with the Cultural and National Heritage Preservation Board, can be investigated and preserved. TOKİ Head Mehmet Ergün Turan told Hurriyet Daily News that they do not view this as a loss considering the importance of the discovery.

“Hasan Ünver, mayor of Nevşehir, said other underground cities in Nevşehir’s various districts do not even amount to the “kitchen” of this new underground city,” reports Hurriyet Daily News.

Through the ages, the Hittites, Persians, Alexander the Great, Rome, The Byzantine Empire, Ottoman Empire, and Turkey have all governed the spectacular region of Cappadocia in Central Anatolia. One hundred square miles with more than 200 underground villages and tunnel towns complete with hidden passages, secret rooms and ancient temples and a remarkably storied history of each new civilization building on the work of the last, make Cappadocia one of the world's most striking and largest cave-dwelling regions of the world. Now a discovery has been made that may overshadow them all.

The year’s best cases of alien ‘proof’

Bones on Mars

With satellites and robots beaming back publicly available images and even live streams from their trips of space exploration, the internet is continually abuzz with material to ignite the age-old debate. Photos from the Mars Curiosity rover put many in a frenzy this year as they claimed one particular piece of surface material bore a striking resemblance to a human thigh bone. So either aliens on the red planet have an extraordinarily similar build to us … or it’s just a rock.

Area 51 deathbed confession

An interview with a man claiming to be former Lockheed Martin scientist Boyd Bushman surfaced shortly after his death in August. In the video interview he goes into intricate detail about his work at the notorious Area 51 site, holds up photos of captured aliens and describes their physical qualities. The authenticity of the video has been widely discredited — the photos bearing an uncanny resemblance to a toy sold at Walmart — but those desperate to meet ET, are n’t so easily dissuaded. The video has since been taken down but excerpts can be seen here.

The mystery of X-37B

The intriguingly long voyage of the unmanned X-37B came to an end in October, but the mystery of the mission lingers on — providing fuel to the fire for Conspiracy theorists. Most of the public theories about what the US led X-37B did during its continuous two-year flight have to do with spying and national security. But there are also those that think the craft was looking for aliens, commandeering abandoned alien bases on other planets or flying around communicating with extraterrestrials. Only the US government knows.

Is the Rosetta comet really a comet?

It was one of the most impressive and impactful scientific achievements of recent time. For most people, the fact that we were able to land a satellite on a comet in space meant that we might gain a greater understanding of the origins of our own existence. For others, it meant that the government was lying and the mission was about making contact with an alien base. The theory grew out of an anonymous e-mail from a supposed “ESA whistleblower” that claimed the comet was not exactly the auspicious rock form that it was made out to be.

Flight MH370

The disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight 370 provided one of the biggest mysteries of the year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, one theory about the cause of the disappearance postulated the involvement of aliens as some claimed that radar readings showed that a UFO interfered with the flight.

Reason.com conducted a poll in the United States and found out that five per cent of their respondents believed Flight 370 was abducted by aliens. Several bloggers also pointed out a number of UFO sightings around Malaysia before the plane’s disappearance. With the international community yet to discover the location of the missing plane, at this point the conspiracy theory continues.

The UFO hiding behind the sun

The list wouldn’t be complete without a token UFO sighting. Those that comb the skies in search for a glimpse of alien activity are seldom short of a good imagination and a smudge or spec can quickly become an interstellar spacecraft.

NASA’s solar observatory catches lots of spectacular solar flares and asteroid activity, and of course, other unidentified flying objects. According to UFO Sightings Daily, the abnormality in the image below is some sort of craft orbiting the sun ... very, very close to the sun. The proximity of the object to the sun would presumably present all kinds of problems, but clearly we can’t begin to understand the transport capabilities of our galactic counterparts.
